Of course you're not. But AMD is paying pennies on the dollar for each game key they include with their graphics cards so it's much more attractive for MOST people to see a video card with 3 free games at XXX price rather than a video card with no free games for $45 less.
Sell the game keys for 50-60% off and make up the difference that way.
The problem with that is that AMD is making next to nothing for every graphics card they sell so they can't bring down pricing, so they used the next best thing, free stuff.
That's not quite true. Their marginal cost on each graphics card is pretty low - they're making a good margin. It would make sense for them to drop prices if that resulted in increased sales. However, they're (probably wisely) opting to preserve their margin instead because a drop in prices wouldn't necessarily increase sales; nVidia would just drop prices themselves and then both companies would be making lower margins while industry sales would not rise significantly.
Many here that they do not wont the games, they just sell them latter for 10-20 euros each, or 25-35 euros both. This is more than what you can expect from a reduction in card prices. And if you want the games, if you where going to buy them, you save much more money than that. It is a win win scenario for AMD AND the customer.
Yeah we all would, but games and GPUs are both extremely high-margin products in extremely risky high-fixed-cost industries. It costs them next to nothing to toss products in a bundle but those products have some value to most consumers. Compared to cutting prices, this way they can protect their margin while still adding value to customers; and considering AMD's financial position they really can't afford to sacrifice their margin unless they can somehow majorly ramp-up volume.
No joy for 7750 owners? I have an old computer that I just upgraded to the 7750 last week when the extremely slim low profile sapphire 7750 dropped below $90 AR....
Wow thats pretty awsome, I was already thinking about buying this since it doesnt require far cry 3 since I have that on xbox but now its included in the never settle bundle, originally I was thinking that kinda sucks since I bought a 7850 two weeks ago but no big deal since I got a value six times the price of it but no amd is giving to everyone who has redeemed the never settle bundle. Say what you want about amd but that is pretty awsome, dought nvidia or anyone else would do that.
If Nvidia was doing that the games would have been locked with the cards serial number. If AMD hardware was found in the system games would start only in 800X600 resolution until that unholy hardware removed and burned with gasoline.
Hey Ryan -- On a related-unrelated note, when is GPU 2013 going to be added into Bench? It's been a while since the game/test lineup debuted with the Titan launch, but I haven't seen anything on the Bench side yet.
I think going retroactive is for freaking awesome. How many other tech businesses do things to take care of existing customers rather than focusing on wooing new ones or treat good customers like cash flow streams for every single little thing they want to do. 78xx and above customers likely buy new parts all the time so treating us well with no strings attached is brilliant to me.
