Nauseous is an adjective describing a smell. People are "nauseated". I used to say the same thing, until I married my wife, the doctor....Merry Christmas, Anand. I really enjoy your site.
#12 i do; and i see no end to the potential video card reviews thrown at him. that was my point. i want to know why these are a such a priority for him and/or his readers. i wasn't referring to financial gain specifically, although i imagine money is an important part of supporting this site and it's contributers. perhaps i am not part of the trend, but i personally have not even played hl2, because i'm waiting to build a system worthy of such. in the past, i've counted on anandtech to offer realistic views of what you could purchase and how far it'd get you, but lately i've only seen implausible FX-53s and 6850GTSLIs. i'm not (trying) to criticize anand or this site, but i am expressing my frustration and confusion.
(upon closing out some open browser windows, i realized that i had forgotten to post this days ago =P)
Yes, I use Intel systems. Just because Intel loses in games doesn't mean people should stop buying them. Maybe if you pay close attention to it, Intel is the one with future technologies on their platform. Intel always wins is rendering over AMD.
And besdies saying that Intel users are "Crap and Cheap" doesn't make sense because Intel has a HIGHER price to performance ratio. I don't know why you were asking such random questions, but it looks like you don't know your Intel from AMD. Are you trying to show off your knowledge?
There are benefits to every platform. I am not saying that people should buy only Intel systems, as I have a A64 system for my gaming needs, but Intel is the world's largest chip maker for a reason...
Now for a real post. I've been playing a lot of HL2 lately, and I really haven't gotten very nauseous. Usually my hand will cramp up before i get sick, just as long as its not dark in the room. If my monitor is the only light source then the head aches start. Maybe you guys should try turning on a light.
#14 - It's a conspiracy! The terrorists are trying to destroy our nation by causing us to be constantly nauseous. This can also explain why Fear Factor, FOX, and the WB are still around.
The_Necromancer and Dee: You have now heard it from Anand himself. STFU on his blog. This is NOT the place for your idiotic, off-topic back-and-forth.
Anand: I think the nausea comes from invisible headcrabs :) Seriously though, andrew posted a good and very interesting link. It seems that a lot of people have the exact same problem, even down to it happening right around an hour of playing time. Very interesting.
Ok heres a question, does any one use intel for games, and if so W...H...Y? In almost every review AMD wins out over Intel, The nly reason would be for Pci-e 16x Gpus but now Asus has come out with there own AMD mobo's and they will come down in price once they start making them in less expensive additions, so if anyone uses an Intel please let me know! Because either you are retarded or Cheap.
#10: You do realize that Anand had to benchmark a lot of other products for other launch reviews, don't you? And if you can't figure this out from his blogs, he has a rather busy schedule.
He has plans to publish HL2 article eventually, but simply saying that he is not getting paid to publish the article is simply demeaning.
Besides the game is already one month old, so why do you need to see the article now?
i take it this imaginary HL2 CPU scaling article either doesnt pay or doesnt matter? i seem to remember way back when HL2 was released, that this very site pointed out how CPU dependent the game was. given that was a month ago and how many times each and every version of every nvidia and ati mainstream card has been benchmarked and compaired since then...
some simple report on how the game might run on a handful of CPUs might go a long way.
lots of people have complained about the nausea from playing hl2
this thread has some info on it
http://www.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?... apparently just changing the field of view fixes this problem for a lot of people but some other suggestions are also listed

I know, but I refer to Radeon b/c that is the most prevalent brand ATI makes. Is it not?

Dee - Monday, December 13, 2004 - link
Actually the question should be: "Why ATI why?"Radeon is a brand, not a manufacturer.
The_Necromancer - Monday, December 13, 2004 - link
Man, finally or should i say hopefully a Radeon gpu that can stand up for its self, to bad it is $350 and the 6600 gt is only $200I just want to ask , Why radeon why? :-(
